Dog Training and Puppy Training in Kent & Sussex
I provide 1-2-1 training consultations for you and your dog, of any age or ability. All areas of training are catered for, for example:
- Puppy socialisation and training
- ‘Life Skills for Puppies’ home packages
- Introducing a new pet to your home
- Toilet training
- Mouthing and biting
- Jumping up
- Pulling on the lead
- General obedience and trick training
- Fun agility (private lessons and group classes)
- Assistance dog training
- Behaviour problems (See Behaviour Consultancy)
Consultations can be structured to yours and your dog’s needs and abilities. I include learning theory, practical exercises and handouts.
Training consultations take place in your home or garden initially, so we can establish the basics and work with minimal distractions. After this, we can continue training out on walks, or where you feel support is needed.
I also offer one-to-one training sessions on-site in Challock, where we have a securely enclosed outdoor sand-school and 6 acres of paddocks.
1-2-1 training consultations are ideal for nervous or rescue dogs if a group class environment would be too overwhelming. They are also suitable for undertaking full training or ‘topping up’ existing skills in the comfort and flexibility of your own home or utilising our secure outdoor facilities on-site in Challock – providing relevance and support in the ‘real world’.
Whilst many people think it is important to attend group training classes, they can also have their limitations. Training should be fun and relaxed for both you and your dog or puppy. Some dogs and puppies may find a group class either too overwhelming and scary, or too exciting and therefore find it more difficult to focus on learning. Consider how you prefer to learn too – even for us, attending a group class can seem daunting. Often the logistics of travelling to a suitable group class may prove too difficult and a home training class may be more suitable.
It is never too late to teach an adult dog something new and to guide them with what is acceptable behaviour; it can also create new ways to have fun and strengthen the bond with your dog! Naturally, it is always better if problems can be prevented at an early stage. The most important task as an owner is to equip your dog with the essential skills required to enable them to fit around your lifestyle and expectations; it is essential that the correct foundations are laid as early as possible to give your puppy the best start in life – so they grow into a well-rounded and good-mannered adult.

If you have a young unvaccinated puppy who is not yet ready for classes and socialisation or would prefer 1-2-1 training instead, I can provide a puppy consultation at your home. This can be booked as a one-off, or as a ‘Home Training Package’. For more information on puppy packages, please refer to the 121 Puppy Training page.
These visits cover:
- Helping you introduce your new puppy successfully – to the family, children and other pets
- Toilet training
- Preventative healthcare
- Getting started with training
- Successful socialisation and puppy upbringing
- How to tackle common puppy problems
The above topics combined, will ensure you and your puppy have a successful and happy relationship for years to come.
